Gaieties and Nomads have a long shared history, and try to play 2 games a season. One of these is usually designated the Pinter-Gooding game, in memory of Harold Pinter and Ossie Gooding, a legendary paceman who played for both clubs (and remembered here by Inigo Thomas). This year's Pinter-Gooding takes place at Ascott Park, a fine National Trust property in Buckinghamshire. We look forward to catching up with the legendary Michael Blumberg, and listening with envy to tales of Nomads' extensive touring and playing schedule.
Tom Brockton (pictured), Captain of Nomads, has scored many runs over the seasons, including an eye-watering 1377 in 2015, with 4 hundreds at an average of 98. Not afraid of sledging the bowlers, we anticipate a robust confrontation between him and the brothers Schneider. The acknowledged dangerman, he also bowls intelligent swingers - at Beaconsfield a few years back he removed both Thurstons cheaply, before it was the done thing.
