Gaieties Cricket Club is a wandering side, founded in 1937 by the music hall artist Lupino Lane, whose company was at that time based at the Gaiety Theatre (below), in London. Nobel Laureate
Harold Pinter (pictured) took over the captaincy in 1972, and was Chairman until his death in 2008. The Gaiety Theatre has now been demolished, but a plaque marks its site in the Strand and the cricket club continues to thrive, playing a number of games in and around London each summer.
